Travel Information

Visa / PassportsMoulay Beach
Like travelling to Europe no visa is necessary for Europeans. A valid passport is required.

Climate
Morocco is a desert country, but the Atlantic coast is tempered by the sea (which is much colder than the Mediterranean).
Usually from April to September the air temperature is in the high 20s (degrees) peaking in august with occasional temperatures of 30 degrees. Inland the temperature can be 15 degrees higher!

The water is colder than the Mediterranean, around 19 degrees throughout the season (late spring to early autumn) and most windsurfers and kiters wear a short sleave summer wetsuit, even in August.

Boots are also advisable at Moulay – the reef is rock, and although not sharp the odd sea urchin can lodge in cracks and crevices.
Good sunglasses, a hat and decent sun cream are an absolute must: In the refreshing wind you will be burnt before you realise it!
The wind and dry heat means that mosquitoes are not very much of a problem.

Money
The local currency is the Dirham (1euro = 10 DH approximately). There are no cash points in Moulay, but there are at Marrakech and Agadir airport. There are also numerous banks in nearby (20km) Essaouira. UK debit and credit cards work at all these cash points.

Generally we advise our clients to get enough cash at the airport (via the cash machine or Bureau de Change) for the first few days or more. Then it is easy to travel by taxi to Essaouira on subsequent days as and when you need more money.

Note: you cannot take Dirhams in and out of Morocco, so be sure to change or spend all your money before you leave us!

Vaccines
Anti-tetanus vaccination and vaccination against hepatitis are recommended. For more information, consult your local doctor.

Insurance
We recommend that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for extreme sports (as well as standard holiday insurance), as you would visiting a European country. The premium will possibly be a little more expensive because Morocco is not in Europe.

Also…
The Morrocans speak French rather well and you’ll find that many of the windsurfing community in Moulay speak English too. The official language is Arabic.

General Flight Information:
Royal Air Maroc flies from many Eu countries to both Marrakech and Agadir.

Prices differ according to the season: with high, average and low periods. The peak season (most expensive) corresponds, in general, with school holidays. Easter, School summer holidays and Christmas are the most expensive.

At other times it is possible to get very cheap flights from local charter airlines and budget airlines. Neverthless it is generally preferable to buy a ticket 2 or 3 months before the flight, for the best deal.

We do not sell flights, however if you are flying from the UK, the links below should help you get the best deal:
